The 49ers got back on track with a big division win tonight over the Rams. Colin Kaepernick took a lot of heat this week for his past two performances. He played a lot better tonight took care of the football. His final stat line for the game 15-23 167 passing yards and 2 tds. He wasn’t the reason for the win tonight. The 49ers went back to smash mouth football. The underrated Frank Gore finished with 151 rushing yards on 20 carries. Back up Kendall Hunter pitched in with 11 carries for 49 yards and a score. Tonight’s game was the blueprint for how the 49ers win football games. Run the ball and play great defense. Colin will come along nicely. He just cant win the game for you RIGHT now. As for the Rams, they have been blown out for the 3rd week in a row. Jeff Fisher needs to do some re-evaluations on his team and if Sam Bradford is “the guy”. They also are in dire need of a running game. Darrel Richardson is not cutting it. Rams are near the bottom of the NFL in rushing. You need to control the clock. Cant win throwing the ball every down. Unless your Peyton Manning lol.
After being benched, Josh Freeman wants to be traded. He is currently on the trading block. Once thought of as a young promising QB. Freeman has struggled under the Schiano regime. Bucs brass apparently saw enough, and benched Freeman in favor of rookie Mike Glennon. By the numbers, Josh Freeman is one of the NFL’s worst passers. Maybe a change of scenery will be good for him.
The Wolverines started red hot the first two games of the season against Central Michigan and Notre Dame. But against Akron and UConn, they only won by a combined 7 points. As a Michigan fan this concerns me going into conference play. Guess it could be worse. They are 4-0. Devin Gardner is somewhat the reason for those close games against less talented teams. He has committed to many careless turnovers, and is not taking care of the football, the way he displayed the first two games. He has to step it up if the Wolverines want to compete for the Big Ten title this year.
Ohio State vs Wisconsin is sure to be one of the most exciting games this weekend. Battle of two Top 25 teams trying to solidify themselves as top dog in the Big Ten. O-State has the superior team, but Wisconsin always comes to play hardnosed football. It should be a dog fight. The biggest storyline for this game is whether star QB Braxton Miller will start, or will it be surprising redshirt senior Kenny Guiton. Guiton has tossed 12 touchdowns in his lone 3 games as starter. So you can see the dilemma Urban Meyer has right now. Either way I’m sure both will end up seeing the field. If it was up to me, I would keep going with the hot hand in Kenny Guiton.
Saturday Night, Tune In.
